FCoV Podcast: You Die Anyways

How's that for a dreary title? This week on the podcast my conversation with Peter/kikflip concludes & it gets deep. Life, death, dreams, relationships, etc. However, if you're more into two guys talking about music, travel & at least one story involving drugs, we've got that covered too. Be sure to check out the previous episode & tell us what you think of this one.

Fry Cook on Venus Podcast: Toronto Characters

It's the return! After a spring/summer hiatus the #FCoV podcast has come back with the longest episode to date. This week Peter, aka Kikflip, comes onto the program to discuss a little bit of everything. It starts with headphones & ends with bootleg jackets but in between we hit topics like Toronto, music & politics. This was actually the first time we had met & it's great to know that another of the people I became friends with over the Internet is cool in real life. So listen to my conversation with this rapper/songwriter & let us know what you think.

Will You Follow Me?

Do celebrities get away with things that normal people could never do or am I just a hater? I imagine the answer is both when you really analyze the two points but indulge me for a bit. If I went into a restaurant & expected a cheaper meal after the staff caught a glance at me, they'd probably end up charging me more for being ignorant. Famous folks can apparently make situations like this work out in their favour though. So after spending a fair amount of time telling myself that it'd be out-of-bounds to share your innermost feelings about someone via keystrokes, imagine my surprise when I heard that celebs are proposing to each other online.

Finding Music Online

Do any of you remember the last time you took time out from your schedule to make a trip to your favourite record store to see what new music was in? If yes, I firmly believe that you're in a minority. The availability of legal music on the Internet might be at an all-time high these days & I think it's fantastic for those that are willing to adapt. Personally, I don't mind opening my SoundCloud app & finding a new mix-tape waiting to be downloaded at all.

The Heat Is On

Well kids, the heat has officially been turned on dans ma maison. Boom, French! To me, it's always a kind of a admittance of defeat. It means Summer has officially ended & there's no hope of it coming back. The amount of daylight is going to reduce until it feels like you're only getting a peak at it during the day. Winter is on the way & I'll have to deal with another birthday. Ugh!

Montreal 2012

I spent this past long weekend in La Belle Province to take in the Osheaga music festival. I had been looking forward to this trip for months & for it to actually live up to the hype would've been somewhat of a miracle. Did it? Well, there's a story behind that.

Sunday In Toronto

Toronto is home to many a festival in the month of June. Among others this weekend Luminato, the Much Music Video Awards & North By Northeast were in full swing & in walking distance from one another. You already know I was bound to make an appearance.

Island Adventure

Since my first year in university, I've heard about the annual parade & picnic held by Ryerson on Centre Island in Toronto. I never made the time to attend this concert until my fifth year though. At first I didn't have the friends I wanted to go with & in later years I had classes I needed to attend but on Friday it finally happened.

It's Friday, Friday

Last night, Tru-Def put me on to Rebecca Black's "Friday". I've shown her a lot of random videos, but whenever she sends one my way it's quality.

No Flow

As I previously stated, our local Hip-Hop & R&B station, Flow 93.5, had a fork stuck in it the other day. It's over & done with. The Flow that I came to know, was changed a long time ago (your hits didn't move me) but I can't help but think it necessary to send the station off with a few words.

NHL Face-off 2010

I'll never forget what happened on the first day of the Maple Leafs's 2009-2010 season, for previously stated reasons. Due to this, I couldn't let today pass without some sort of adventure. It's didn't go exactly as I planned but it happened, & at the end of the day that's all you can ask for.

Manifesto Festival 2010

With all the craziness involved in changing my major, starting up this new site & having to remember to brush my teeth everyday, I totally neglected to post my recap of Manifesto 2010.

The Best Type of k-os

NXNE is a crazy experience if you are a fan of music. Additionally, a free concert featuring one of your favourite artists is always a good time. So obviously I had no choice but to catch K-OS at Yonge-Dundas Square last night. And yes, good times were had.

O.T.P. – LUCKY v TOXIC

Welcome to 'On The Poll'; a series that aims to random questions that cross my mind, randomly. Questions are asked on Twitter, Facebook, Wordpress or even in real life (for the unfortunate few of you have to see me on a daily basis). Let's see how far this can go on before it just gets annoying, shall we?

Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me

Here's to all the women out there that are cooler than me. *Raises glass* I shall continue to fall for you as I always have. Mike Posner came with a smooth track that will definitely make some noise as we head into the summer months. Additionally, on a borderline unrelated note, shout out to Rosa Acosta. She was in the last Posner video, it was her birthday a few days ago & I will go to any lengths to shout out a pretty girl who has an ill sense of humour. Gracias por la retweets :)

Rafael Casal – Misogyny

So "Mix-tape Friday" was a success. In the coming days, I'm hoping to share some of the gems that made their ways into my ears. The first of said gems comes from Rafael Casal (GetBack) & "The Monster LP." According to Wikipedia, misogyny is defined as a hatred towards females. On this track, he goes in & tackles the subject with the same flow & lyrical ability that has made me boost this guy to no end (watch who the next few posts will be about). If you still haven't downloaded "The Monster", pick it up on The GetBlog... FOR FREE!

BEST STORY EVER: Bif Naked

Trust me when I say that this is one of the most shocking things you'll ever hear in your life! Not that I can see you, but I'm sure the face you make when she hits the punchline will be priceless.

Serani – “No Games” (Original Video)

The version of the video that wasn't good enough for BET/MTV/Much. I liked it the way it was; the quality wasn't all that, but it had a certain vibe about it. If you do see the newer version, shout-out to Rihanna's stunt-double (Notice me not even touching the obvious jokes there).

Blame It On The Large Goat

Calling it a night. Sleep is a priority!

9:43am - Our boy Jon aka MadWhiteJamaican has got his video out! Lyrics are ill & the beat is hot too. Not the usual dancehall, but still good music with a positive message.
